I moved to Vegas in July and am renting a house near Desert Inn and Durango.

In the past week, I've had three different people come to my house and ask for money. One guy rang the doorbell. The other two guys walked right into my garage without asking. I was in the garage and had the garage door open at the time.

Is this to be expected in Vegas??? I've never heard of such a thing before, let alone experienced it.

Shoot them for trespassing. Word will spread. Soon even the Jehovah's witnesses will stop coming.

This is just a natural extension of the panhandling that permeates the city. You'll run across at least 100 of these people on a daily basis in your car and out on the streets. Many Las Vegas panhandlers make a lot of money (there are videos online documenting some of them), but I just wish that there were better ways to reduce their aggressiveness.

Someone walking into your garage is pretty brazen. Open Cary in your garage it will stop.

Expect just about anything in this city. That way you won't be surprised.

I'm always tinkering around in the garage with small kids. I just can't fathom the idea of a stranger entering without permission. My garage IS an extension of my home. If this were to happen to me, I am sure the end result would end up on the news.

To answer OP's question, no, this does not happen and never should happen. You must live near a busy/major street.
