Check on that I got a quote from Allstate that was double that. I filled out the info fast and used more than 5 years experience. I used a 125cc scooter as thats what people were discussing over a non registered 50cc.

After talking to a lot of people it seriously seems like these insurance companies just pull random numbers out of the air.

Where did you get that idea?!?!?!??

They are motor vehicles, both technically and legally speaking. YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN BE CITED FOR DRIVING VIOLATIONS! The difference between a "moped" and a motorcycle is certain exemptions. You must still have a driver license, and you must obey all traffic laws.

Motorcycles, Mopeds & Bicycles
You must have a Class C or higher driver license to drive a moped or motorized bicycle on a public street. You do not need a Class M license. Mopeds do not require insurance or vehicle registration. If the moped produces more than 2 gross brake horsepower, or has a displacement of more than 50 cubic centimeters (50 cc), or produces not more than 1500 watts final output, or is capable of exceeding thirty miles per hour (30 mph) on a flat grade, it is considered a motorcycle and you must have a Class M license, registration and insurance.

Mopeds must have almost all of the same safety equipment (lights, mirrors, etc.) as a motorcycle in order to be driven on any public street.
PLEASE stop spreading misinformation. It took me all of ten seconds to locate the above info. If you're going to take the time to post, do yourself and everyone else a favor and verify the information you're posting, first.

Not only that, but I see Mopeds in the fast lane of surface streets all the time, going 15 mph under. If they were really classified as bicycles they should be in the bicycle lanes or at least off to the right.

Most people I see drivings cars don't know what to make of them in center and left lanes holding up traffic. Not paying high registration fee's, hardly any gas tax. No registration, no Insurance, no helmets. ACTING LIKE CAR's that can only go 30mph.

Between them and the jaywalkers and the Cat bus's stopping every block on roads with no turnouts for them, it's really no wonder why there are so many deadly accidents on the roads.

Having said that, I don't know what the attraction is to auto's crashing into Cat bus stops.

Sorry my bad. Do you consult all laws and the vehicle code before you do anything?

I generally make sure that I have a pretty good idea what I'm talking about before offering legal advice...

And yes, I familiarize myself with the vehicle code. By operating a motor vehicle on public roads, you're subjecting yourself to many, many laws. Don't you want to know what those laws are? I do, so I peruse them occasionally, and regularly look up specific things when a question arises.

I haven't gotten a ticket for a moving violation since 1997. You?
