You have to wonder...would it not have been less expensive to give the guy back his cover?

That would set a bad precedent of people not taking responsibility for their behavior.

Where? The strip has long allowed concealed carry except at certain events when they do set up metal detectors. This one actually occurred outside the club.

The shooter is certainly facing up to his responsibilities whether he likes it or not. That however does not bring back the bystander.

Obviously, we can infer that the shooter entered the club with gun on body. A metal detector would have prevented that and there would be no "I want my money back or bang bang" situation.

Remember guns don't kill people. Rainbows and unicorns do.

Sure there would. He gets annoyed they won't let him check and pulls his gun...same problem.

Or he gets annoyed at a pit boss or a security dude.

I would suspect with the amount of bling present that a metal detector would be a pain.

Yeah, they somehow don't have a problem with metal detectors all over Europe, another hotbed of clubs, yet it is one here.

You've got the line wrong. "Guns don't kill people, murderers do"

Looks like the perp here was previously charged with attempted murder, was allowed to plead to a lesser charge and got probation. Later, he was charged with assault again, and was given probation. If they locked up the right people, and kept them locked up, we'd have a lot less problems.
