My daughter was riding her bike when she noticed what she thought was a meteorite falling and she asked me to take a look. I had to admit it was baffling because the moon is off to the SW tonight and this object is falling straight down with a split-tail at the NW. I grabbed the binoculars and it continued to fall but then it started to level off, then I noticed another faint light coming from the right of the object that had the same tail but this one appeared to be climbing. The second object disappeared but now the first object is banking left and going away from the city.

So while it can concluded we most likely saw planes, the question remains what kind of plane makes such a glow coming from it that it is split. This glow was pretty long and the sun was well below the mountains. Did anyone else see this tonight?

This is happening now...From NEWS Google dated Aug 13th. Maybe there are some fragments and meteors seen in USA too although I know nothing about astomomy.

"Stargazers around the world have been marvelling at the sight of a particularly strong meteor shower, known as Perseids.

Whilst the shower was at its peak in the early hours of this morning, observers in the UK may still be able to see shooting stars in the night sky tonight."

The Thunderbirds are practicing again, but don't think they do at night. You could be seeing the afterburners of military jets kicking in. Or space aliens.
