Hi All! -

Need flooring (carpet & tile) for my new home in Henderson. I want to get a few bids and get the most out of my flooring budget. Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Has anyone used Lowe's for carpet? If so, thoughts? Just curious because they have a $97 flat fee carpet installation sale.

Thanks!

You might talk to a few neighbors and see if anyone has used a certain tile person that they would recommend. For carpet, go with the best deal you can get. Although I would vote for no carpet anyway!! tile and wood floors are wonderful. You can actually get them clean.

Thanks! I like to sink my feet into a nice cushiony carpet when I get up in the morning. The first floor will be all tile. No wood because of my pets (my big dog will scratch the hell out of it!). So far I'm realizing, even with the $97 installation, Lowes doesn't have the best prices. I assume that's because they mark the carpet up so much…

can't speak for carpet, but we've got a great tile installer. He did our first floor (1400 sq. ft) and our bathroom reno. Super reasonable and has been doing it for YEARS. He started helping his father in the "Oscar days" ;-) I'll DM you his info if you want it.

For tile, go to Floor & Decor Outlets of America near Costco in Henderson. They are the best in town. Every other tile shop is more than double their prices. But the deal with these guys is that if you find something you like, buy it immediately. Because it will likely be gone the next day, never to return.

Listen to Scoop ..buy a bit more tile than you think you need.

Carpet...buy fairly inexpensive carpet with premium padding...it makes a big difference. Nothing crazy...no Berber no colors...just real estate beige.

No matter what you choose someone would have preferred some other color but real estate beige is acceptable to everyone in the end.

When I purchased my home in 2005, I specified no carpet. Tile 100% in every part of the house. As a hobby I collect Persian rugs and have those scattered about. Wall-to-wall carpet is an old fashioned floor covering that is cheap to install, unsanitary, ugly, and a major pain to keep clean, especially in the desert. Be careful about wood as the dust and grime can scratch the finish if you have pets or kids. Dark stained woods will show every speck of dust that blows in from the outdoors.

The big box stores don't install for that low price. They add a lot of extra charges that the real carpet stores don't add. It ends up costing more in the long run.
