hello could some one tell me is it hard to get in with a good casino as a cook and or a waitress, and if any one reading this is a server or cook what is the pay scale , and how good are the tips ..my wife and i are wanting to relocate from vail co to las vegas . im a cook and my wife is a waitress , and we are hoping some one can help us out with the pay scale .and are there a lot of jobs exc... thankyou ..oh the coast of living in vail co is extremly high..need to relocate any ideas we like tourist towns..

my parents friends are both waiters at gold coast (not sure but one of the coast casinos) and they said they love off of tips. they are doing pretty good for themselves since they bought a house here early on. as for being a cook, im not so sure. all i know is i wanted to take culinary arts as my major before resort management. and from what ive heard, its really hard to get a job as a chef. my uncle who was formerly a chef for an oil tanker tried finding a job here and they said they couldnt hire him. so i heard its kinda hard. seek a second opinion from people here. this is just what i heard. good luck in your search !

Check with the Culinary Union as most food service jobs are union. Culinary Union Local 226
