And why in the world are there 100 threads about people buying houses? If you want to buy a house, do so. If you don't want to buy a house, don't. There. Can the threads go away now??

My guess is "zero-0" as you put it. The people who are sad are the ones who don't have the education or intellectual ability to generate income.
That isn't really socialism. Socialism is the collective ownership of various aspects of the nation. While we may be a nominally capitalist society, our police, fire departments, schools, libraries, roads, electric grid, postal system and a HOST of other things are basically run as socialist entities.

Countries like Norway are even more socialist. They have nationalized things like their national resources. The Bahamas, for instance, insists that ALL beaches are collectively owned by Bahamians. Nobody can put up a fence and post "keep out" signs. Nothing wrong with that, so long as people agree. Alaska does the EXACT SAME THING with their natural resources. And they're all basically conservatives. Why can't we wrap our heads around this. It is a fair, equitable system that helps everyone. What is wrong with that?

There is nothing inherently wrong with socialism, so long as it does not promote sloth. The UK National Health System for instance is an excellent health care system. I've made use of it. And the health care systems in Canada and Germany. They simply have it better than most of us do. The people who denigrate their system for the most part have no idea how it works. They are willfully ignorant.

The trick is finding a happy balance between the needs of society at large and the needs of the individual. I think England has the best solution. You can still work hard, invest, and get very, very rich in England. But there is a baseline under which nobody is allowed to slip. You don't see crazy beggars at every traffic light like you see here in Las Vegas. And yet people think the UK's system is somehow flawed. OUR system is flawed. We can do better.

I don't make use of borrowed money. I pay cash. I put my money where my mouth is and then I invest it in Las Vegas real estate. If you think that's a bad idea, fine. But don't tell me it doesn't work because I have first-hand experience that says it does. As do many, many other people on this forum.

So what did you expect, for the prices of housing to drop to zero? Isn't that more foolish and selfish to desire than a market correcting?

The thing I find weird is that he thinks I have something to gain in how this market goes. That I am trying to push it in some direction. Why? which way?

I do prefer weakly that velocity increases. But other than that why would I care? I would much rather volume doubles even if price went down 15%. And I don't even care about that very much as I work certain segments of the market that don't behave the same as the overall market.

And as a homeowner I would prefer prices go up at least to the long term trend.

And HOA guys? where? I personally won't live in one for a variety of reasons. But I don't see anything wrong with them.

This thread started with a link to a particular article, but it's now really no different than the real estate market thread. Closed.
