agreed....the journey is almost always more enriching (and sometimes more entertaining, and sometimes less pleasant) than the destination.

good luck in getting back to chi-town. hoping to visit friends there over christmas (and catch the packers/bears game).

I think this guy should write books...I would definitely purchase them myself!
BTW, that stat might be old, as I heard the economy is bad in AZ too.......for the same reasons....
It's a brand new stat, it was just released a few days ago. You can see all the states unemployment rates at Bureau of Labor Statistics Home Page

Overall the Mountain West has the lowest unemployment rates in the naton.. Nevada is the only state in the region with a high unemployment rate, although we were low too up until a few months ago.

Notice it was 5.8% in '02. We may be headed there again, but this cycle has been going on for a long time. I'm not sure what the percentage was in '82 and in '92 but it was really, really high both times.

The Fed lowered the prime rate again today. Not sure if that will affect the real estate market but I hope people realize it's about as low as it's going to get and decide now is the time to buy a home. Not because mine is for sale because we are probably going to take it off the market. But because so many people are negatively affected by the downturn in real estate. Just not sure if the mortgage companies are ready to approve the loans.

Why are we making fun of a young individual in the process of finding oneself?

There does not appear to be any significant problem with mortgage availability. Just nobody is asking.

The difference between Las Vegas and Phoenix is interesting. What has happened in Phoenix is growth stopped almost a year ago...and the unemployment rate has dropped as a good economy absorbs the available bodies. In Las Vegas the growth has continued and has not quite absorbed the bodies.
