Gang,

Currently house hunting in henderson.

We have been renting in Anthem and there are literally no little kids in the neighborhood. We have a 4 year old and are looking for an awesome development with tons of young kids.

I have read lots of posts suggesting Anthem as a great family neighborhood so I assume the lack of kids is just our development. Please be as specific in your suggestions as possible. we just want our little guy to grow up with lots of neighborhood freinds.

Thanks so much for your input!!

I'm not sure where you can find more families with kids than Coventry in Anthem.

There are no kids playing outside in your neighborhood because it is too hot in the summer time, they are all inside playing video games, or you and the other parents are not initiating anything.

Get out and knock on some doors. Pass out some candy on Halloween, then exchange numbers. Put some holiday decorations out to let everyone know that you are not a Scrooge. Most parents are already paranoid about the valley, so of course they keep their kids inside all day. Plus this is a transient town. My daughter loses friends every year, then gains new friends every year.

Every Sat and Sun morning I have kids knocking on my door to ask if my daughter can play outside and sometimes Vice Versa. Mostly to jump on the trampoline. Someone got a new basketball rack for Christmas and now the cul de sac is always full.

All the parents in my area have each other's phone number. We may not talk to each other on a daily basis...some probably don't even like one another BUT we all respect the fact that our kids play together.

In this city, you will be hard pressed to find a street booming with kids playing outside. Maybe you should give your current neighborhood a chance, but with more effort.

I used to be in your shoes, twice in two different neighborhoods out here. It's always worth a shot.
