My only good experience we ever had in a cab was before we lived here. We got a taxi at Harrah's. We were on our way to the airport and it was still dark. Every time the driver stopped at a light, he would pick up the guitar her had next to him, and start playing. Now that's Vegas entertainment.

Call A-Cab, for best service in the west side. Since they only service the west side you should get a good responce. Their phone # is 369-5686. I got them on speed dial on my cell phone

For the airport or strip from Summerlin you will do better with a town car from Bell. Not as good a deal as it used to be but still cheaper than a cab. And mostly you catch a limo...always a fun way to go to the airport.

Works the other way too. There is also a car service that works Sun City.
Don't know if they do the rest of Summerlin though.

Taxi experiences have been mostly positive.

Some drivers tend to be a bit rude and impersonal, but think how many rude and drunk people they have to put up with.
Their driving skills are above those of the publics, though they tend to do some abrupt maneuvers. We have to think that this is their full time job and that they have wheels under their feet for some 10-12 hours. Consenquently, on the road I will give them a break. I let them through and keep a distance.

A MINIMUM tip for them for a short trip should be $3. For longer trips over $20, $5+ is not unreasonable.
Most will respond politely if that is what you also are also. In other words you receive what they get from you. They see lots of characters on the road, so they are on the defensive lots of times. One thing they dislike is if you look down on them. It is a blue collar job and many don't like doing it, but most are honest and good people that have to make a living somehow.
One time a left a bar after I had hit a jackpot. I gave the driver a $20 tip.
He told me " you gotta love locals, they appreciate the working man more"....
"you wont believe how many times these white collar *ssholes talk on their phones about million dollar deals, and then give you a $1 tip and ask for a blank receipt?!!!!
The things they must see everyday!

To conclude, be nice and they will be nice also and don't forget to tip well.

Yes, a sedan (mini limo) can be better at times.
I found out and used a company called PSS, Personal Sedan Services, which is cheaper than Bell, to go to the airport and strip. Their rates are even cheaper than a cab because cabs recently raised their rates. Also, their rate is flat like most limos/sedans which is good for longer trips but not recommended for shorter ones They even accept credit cards!

Town car cheaper than a taxi-------HARDLY. CLS price to the airport is $58-----for a maximum of THREE-----------------$19.33/ person. Taxi, about $40 for a party of five------$8/person-------how is a sedan cheaper??????????

OK, consider first that taxis raised the rates last month. Also, consider your starting point since a taxi's meter runs on time and distance.
PSS charges $42 per hour for up to five people I believe ,but they might charge more depending on pickup location. If they have to pickup far away they might charge for 1 1/2 hr. I think they do lots of Summerlin work for $42! It all depends on your circumstances. For example, a taxi from Red Rock Resort to airport charges $50+ but PSS charges $42 and you ride in a nicer cleaner car (got a cousin that's a doorman there). I 'll find out more next time I use them or better yet call em up at 248-7706

I have had no problems with taxis but I am often only riding them after being out of town 2+ weeks (the break even point between parking at the airport and taking a taxi). On the longer trips I've usually been out of country, traveling for 20+ hours back home so I love it when they drive 60 mph down Warm Springs towards my house.

I never get long hauled becuase I know where I am going and just tell them where I want them to drive to get me to my house the fastest.

My only problem with taxis her in Vegas is how long it takes them to dispatch one to Centennial Hills. My car had broken down last year around Christmas, and I had to take a cab a few times. Average wait was one hour, with one wait being three hours. In their defense, there were some conventions in town, including the porn convention. The drivers were all excellent, and apologized for the delay. Thankfully, they disinfected their cabs prior to picking me up.
