to register my car in Nevada? Good grief! Why do they go by the MSRP rather than what I paid for the car which is four years old? For the record, I'm going to register it, just want to know why it costs so much.

No state income tax. They have to raise revenue somewhere.

Oh, ok. It just sucks because I just bought the car in November and paid to have it legal in that state. Now, two months later, I'm having to do it all over again. Le sigh. I still love Vegas!!!!!!!

I was also angry to pay $691.00 to register my new truck after paying $2800.00 in sales tax. This is the price we all have to pay for not having a state income tax.

Don't want to pay? Buy an older car. We have three cars -- 1974 (the most valuable of the three), 2004 and 2007. The 2007 costs $200 for renewal, the other two are $99.

Wow! I think I would be a tad peeved also. But like I said to the other poster, I'm happy to do it. Or at least I will give the money over the clerk like I'm happy to do it.

Paid almost 2K to register my car and this will be my last high end car. The benefit of no State Income tax only comes into play if you are working.

Don't worry, I won't be buying a new car anytime in the next decade!

You think registration sucks? Try letting your insurance lapse for even one day while you change over policies. That will be $250.00, please. Let it go for a month with 31 in it days and it doubles, whether you drove it or not. The DMV never misses a chance to get you. Best to stay on their good side.

The good news is that renewals are easy and can be done online or at the smog station, so you don't have to go stand in line.
