I know it's a few months away, but one of our local celebrities is back this season playing for one of the best local charities. Penn Jillette will be again playing for Opportunity Village. I predict he will do very well

I thought I read somewhere he didn't have very much nice to say about Mr. Trump.
I'm assuming it didn't go so well.

Penn seems to be an outspoken guy. Maybe he commented on Trump's nasty orange comb over?

Sucks if he didn't do well for Opportunity Village though. I think that is one of the best local charities we have going. Wonderful people, and such a great cause.

For people new to Las Vegas, Opportunity Village assists people with developmental disorders such as down's syndrome or autism with opportunities to make a little money and a whole lot of self-esteem. The clients participate in activities such as preparing packed lunches for corporate events, designing artwork that is used on greeting cards, paper shredding, etc.

I once received a cookie as a Christmas gift that was baked by OV and the wrapper was decorated with artwork created by a client. It was both beautiful and delicious. They also have their annual "Magical Forest" which I enjoy.

Good on Penn for supporting them.

Don't know Penn, but he and Teller seem to do a lot for the local community. At one of our LV Media Group lunches recently a lady for OV spoke. She went to work there years ago as her son is also a client. Anyway, I didn't know half the great things they do in Las Vegas. They provide jobs for a lot more people that wouldn't otherwise be hirable than you might imagine. They cook for a lot f groups such as Nellis AFB. But they do lots of other things. Her son shreads document. She said whenm he got his first check he wanted to shread it. Since listening to her it has become one of my faorite charities. So many "charities" are there to make a lot of money for the CEO. Starvation Army is another good one. They do a lot of good work and nobody is making any money form it like the Red Cross, United Way, etc.

(Disclaimer: I can't see so forgive my typing today).

Red Cross
long time back, an airplane crashed in NLV just off Civic Center and Cheyenne....was a jet from nellis, had lost his engine on takeoff and tried to turn back....was loosing to much altitude. He tried to turn and land on a wide street [can't remember the name] but everyone came out to watch the jet crash....he made a hard right to try to make an empty lot....started clippin rooftops and then pancaked into a house and took out 4 others....I was one of the first to arrive on scene with the ambulance from Nellis....since i was a Medic I stayed onsite to assist in recovery.....

The Red Scourge came and set up a Canteen for the people working....and charged us for a cup of coffee.

KFC showed up with a pickup truck loaded to the gills....ALL Free.....I, like most XGI's do not think Highly of the Red Scourge

Starvation Army is another thing.....and Op village is outstanding.....

And Penn Gilette[while NOT on my list of favored comedians] is a class act all the way
