I have a question concerning my wife. She applied online for job at the Excalibur 3 weeks ago. Under the search options that job does not exist anymore. But in her profile on the same website it says her application is still active.

Does it mean her job does not exist anymore and should apply somwhere else at MGM properties (u can aplly only for 1 position) or she is still under consideration?

Thanx

that is the bad thing about MGM process, you can only apply for one position at a time and they are the biggest employer in that area.
if her job application states that the job is still open, you might want to wait before canceling that application. I have heard of people waiting for more than a year. However, if you see something more appropriate, cancel that app and switch it over to the new job description.

the MGM process is a bit of a black hole unless you have an in at the company... but once you are in, you are golden.

i always hear this.

But you know what, we acctually know someone, not one but few people working there.

And they are all supervisors/managers.

When we ask them for help they response is : Go online ,fill out job application and wait...

I would give that position a few more weeks. It took me about a month to get hired. If they ask for a drug test, that means they want to hire. But the background check still has to come back without any serious blemishes.

And it doesn't matter what position she gets. She just has to get in, and demonstrate a really good attitude and solid work ethic. Then she'll be able to go where she wants. It won't take weeks. But it won't take years either.

I share 3 traits with you. What was your secret / what type of work is it?

I am applying for white collar positions and I can tell you that their Recruiting system is the worst I've ever seen. They bought one of the big names and tailored it to the point where it is extremely frustrating for the potential candidate. I can see its use for the mass service positions, but it is challenging for the back office professional jobs. Frustrating really just means that I understand that they want a system that will help them sort through what they don't want quickly, but they are going to miss out on some top talent simply because of a missing buzzword on a resume.

Sorry for the rant but that's my opinion from my experience.

Took me just a few weeks and I moved from out of state. I didn't know anyone here. The hair drug test was done at a clinic in my hometown and FedExed to the company. The background check was very thorough for me and they did call my references, schools, former and current employers, did a credit, criminal and DMV check.

Some of the jobs won't appear online any longer once a certain number of applications have been received. However, some crazy website still has my job listed.

I'm sure the time it takes to hear anything back is also dependent on the job, its qualifications, what level of background check must be done, the number of applications received, etc.

It's cool to see so many fellow employees on this site.

I'm an IT geek I can tell you my interview process with MGM was WAY better/efficient than with Venetian. I would certainly hope they have improved over the years....
