The wife and I LOVE Vegas. It has not been difficult adjusting at all. We were ready to get out of Utah and get into somewhere new, so it has been good for us. That doesn't mean it's good for everyone....

Nelson, Nevada

Distance: ~1 hours, 42 miles
Activities: hiking, mine tour, sight seeing, old buildings, history

Took a trip out to Nelson for the first time last week to take some family photos. It is an amazing little place out in the desert in Eldorado Canyon south of Boulder City. It was once home to one of the top producing mines in Nevada. It is now a ghost town and only a handful of people live there. There are tons of old building and places to explore, but the owners keep a close eye on you and you are supposed to sign in at the little shop they have. The road past Nelson goes down to the Colorado River where there are some breathtaking views at sunset. I recommend checking out Nelson and exploring the surrounding area for a quick trip out to the desert. Great for a whole day or a half day. Fun place for families too.

Here are some pics taken from: Nelson - Nevada Ghost Town
