Enjoy some very reasonably priced prix fixe menus and help a good cause.

We had dinner last night at Comme Ca. It was excellent. Tonight we are going to Charlie Palmer's Steakhouse. We love restaurant week in Las Vegas.

We're going to RM Seafood later this week. Haven't decided on a second restaurant. Had to use up the Groupon we had for Golden Steer last night (definitely not among the best steakhouses in Las Vegas, but my wife had never been, so we had to go). Three dinners out a week is my limit - two 1-hour workouts at the gym earns us one dinner out.

We ate at RM Seafood last week (prior to restaurant week) and it was very, very good.

Last night we ate at Emeril's at the MGM and it was outstanding. I had the pecan crusted trout while my wife had the scallop & short ribs. They were flawless.

Tonight we're trying Henry's.

Charlie Palmer's Steak' f ood and service were good. Lights were too dim and the atmosphere was not relaxed. Wait staff seemed nervous and uptight.

What happens on restaurant week? Do famous restaurants offer discounts or what?

My wife and I dined at Joe's Stone Crab. She had the salad and the halibut, I had the bisque and the filet. The food was excellent, but we were feeling rushed. The main course came out when we were half finished with the appetizer. We should not have gotten served so early. We were realistically ' forced' to abandon our appetizers and start our main courses.

And consider just how far away from the source of stone crab you are. I've never understood why people eat at places like Joe's or Red Lobster. The motto for both places should be, "Logistically, it's impossible for us to sell anything that hasn't been frozen."
