Well I had my first homeowner accident. I broke a pipe trying to get an old hose off for the washing machine. I had to shut the water off for the night. Luckily still have the rental prop till Sunday but need it fixed tomorrow. Any recs on getting someone out in the A.M.

Call Prestige Plumbing. We've had good luck with them. They did the plumbing in our neighborhood and they've done all our repairs.

Thanks for the help. I ended up contacting someone off Angie's List last night. Red Carpet Plumbing. They were here first thing in the morning and got the job done for $325. They were professional and the quick response was great. They gave me an estimate to replace a pop-top drain on one of my sinks for $165 which I declined. I bought the part at Home Depot for $8 and had a handy-man install it and mount a 55 inch TV for $100 so I have a feeling red Carpet can be a little pricey. I may have overpayed a little for the first job but the technician took the time to explain a lot about the plumbing in my new house so all in all it was worth it.

I think most plumbers charge by the job and there expertise as bringing a car in for repairs.
At least you know the job was done right! Most handymen can do small jobs and cheaper.

Glad you got your problem solved. A comment for others: We are very plumbing handy, but when we needed our water softener repaired we called Colburn Enterprises, run by a local father and son. They have been in Vegas for decades. When our softener finally went out, John Colburn replaced it with a 2-tank saltless type for a lot less than those guys who advertise ad nauseum. He's one of the few contractors we used in Vegas who didn't rip us off. He's done several jobs for us since, like replacing our R/O cartridges yearly.

The profesional plumber is licensed and bonded, so if anything goes wrong you're covered. Also, if some unexpected problem came up, he would know how to handle it. Joe from next door, maybe not so much.

Called him Monday morning. Said to text him my address. Told him I don't do text, so he said he'd call me back. Never called - first sign of trouble. Called him and he took my address, said he was on a site all day and would be by at 8:30 am tomorrow. Next day, 9:30 am, no show. Called him, said he took another call and would be there all day. He never planned on calling me, a set appointment. Took the high dollar call over an appointment. Never again.

@costaricageorge would you mind sharing your handyman's contact information (if you're happy with him). I've had a heck of a time finding a handyman here in Vegas. Tried sending you a pm but it doesn't look like you're configured to receive them. Thanks in advance.
