I like Ted Weins on Craig just east of the I-15

I would avoid Purrfect or Tire Works

In your area, you should see Phil Dase at Goodyear on Trop. He's a personal friend and has tons of experience. Most important, he's honest. And he's been in Las Vegas all his life so he knows everyone. If you need to junk it I think he'd be able to help you out. Tropicana - Bruce Scher's Goodyear

But really, the only place to take a Toyota in Las Vegas is Precision Performance. They only work on Toyotas. It belongs to the son of the only guy in Las Vegas to take your Honda to, Wally, who was famous for his skills and honesty long before he was a regular on Pawn Stars. He only works on Honda products. They are both honest and they know what they are doing and won't rip you off. They aren't cheap, but what does it cost you to be ripped off by mechanics that say they did work they didn't do, and that you didn't need? We have never trusted anyone else with our Hondas and when the warranty runs out on our Toyota we'll take it to Wally's son.
Precision Performance - Westside - Las Vegas, NV

And don't forget Carl, the only other honest mechanic in Las Vegas. He has done good work for several people on CD including me, and has never ripped us off. His prices are very reasonable too. So far I only know these four honest places and I've been here most of my life: Home Page

Thank you buzz. That helps alot. Ted weins wanted 800 to change the belt. 400 part. 400 labor. I know a timing belt only costs 40 so ill look into these.

Would be interesting to know specifically which parts were included in that estimate.

Did your timing belt break? Even if it did, it would not cause engine damage on your car. Toyota was smart in that they left enough clearance in the head for belt breakage unlike Honda's for example.

Well it was their kit. I didnt ask what all came with it. I assumed water pump, a tensioner, and maybe some other belts. But 400 is too rich for my blood.

At the moment, i have no way of checking if timing belt broke. Im ignorant in car mechanics. My grandpa down in alabama who is says theres a good chance its the timing belt. I have no clue. All i know is the oil light flickered while i drove, i heard some rattling while i drove, and once i got off the interstate, it shut off and hasnt started since. I do know its not locked up though
