We got the keys to our new home in 89074 this morning. After all the stress in the beginning things actually went pretty smooth. We bid on the house on May 8th, signed papers on Monday and it recorded late yesterday. It was a Freddie Mac foreclosure. For all those home hunting we did offer 6% over list but still feel we got a great deal (home appraised at our offer price). We did get 3.5% closing costs from Freddie Mac plus a 2yr. home warranty. Now we get to the fun part of moving. We have 10 days to do it so if anybody has any recs for local movers let me know. I may just go the u-haul route and find a couple of laborers. I wish all in the home hunt the best of luck. With luck and a little patiences there are some great deals out there.

Welcome & congratulations. I would steer clear of the laborers, however.

We've hired people from movinghelp.com. They have some kind of partnership with U-haul. You can read the reviews before you hire someone. We hired people who had excellent reviews and in each case they lived up to their reviews. I would use them again. If you need a reference, I could find the names of the two guys we hired locally, who unpacked the truck that we drove from LA to here. Best money I ever spent, they unpacked the truck on one of the hottest days last summer, and it only cost me around $150 I think (2 hours x 2 people x $30/hr plus a tip).

I had an agent and went to see houses the day they came on the market. I have to say we were lucky and blessed to get the house we did. We couldn't be happier.

I used "Warren's Homework" for a local move and they were great. Someone on C-D recommended them.
