Perhaps they can afford to pay that much out because their gas stations always seem to be the highest in price.

She likes playing machines such as The Hangover, Sex in the City, Lord of the Rings, Ghostbusters, etc., to get to the video bonus rounds. She can sometimes play for hours on $20 - $50, not to mention the "free" slot money many of the casinos give us every week. And she even occasionally walks away with more money than when she started.

Now compare what she spends on this entertainment to what it would cost for other forms of entertainment such as concerts or Cirque shows. Hell, we went to see a 3D movie over the weekend and ended up spending almost $40 on two tickets plus one popcorn and one coke.

So why would it be considered throwing money away to spend the $40 playing slots rather than at a movie theater? They're both forms of entertainment.
That makes sense. I am still a gambling virgin, so I am in awe of those huge dollar figures on the signs.

In any event, as someone else noted, if Terrible's is paying out $38M, they're taking in about $40M ($38M / (1 - 0.05)), for a total $2M in gaming profit.

So 10 mill a week being pumped into the place. I can see that. But the number still shocked me. I watch people sitting at the slots hitting spin, over and over and over again and I just cannot fathom tossing the money away.

But I use a players card that tells me how much money I run through a machine. A dollar is a point. The other night I had a great evening of VP. I put $20 in a quarter machine and got 10K worth of play. That doesn't happen often but it does happen. That $20 lasted me all night.
I LIKE that story! I might gamble if that were a regular outcome!

Where was this? This sounds like you were either pretty luck, or their slots are fairly loose.

Boulder Station, bonus poker, .25 progressive, reversible royal. It's right across from the sports book. It's the bank of machines with the black signs. For some reason I do really well on these a decent percentage of the time. If I play perfectly.

I probably should explain WELL. For me, that's getting a lot of play for my $20. I have to hit FOAK to keep me going and on bonus poker those don't pay nearly as well as double double. But I seem to hit them more often on bonus.

It's entertainment for me and the only time I leave with money in my pocket is when I hit a royal. The only other place I do really well is the treasure chest bonus poker at Main Street Station.

So you can still get decent paying VP? You sound like you're up on your VP strategy. What was the pay table?

I heard this years ago:

It's the slot revenue that generates the most income for the casino. Not the tables or even baccarat. Not the food, nor the Rooms, even Fight Night, can compare to the amount casinos pull in from slots. Even the 21 tables don't pull in the amount slots

This article quotes 70% of a casino's revenue comes from slots.
