Hi everyone, I'm doing some research to see if it would be a good idea to start a business in Las Vegas. The idea of the business is a service that would cater to the senior community to assist them in things that they may not be able to do themselves anymore(ie washing clothes, housekeeping, hygiene, errands, prescription reminders, etc). Kinda like a concierge/non-medical care service for people who don't want to go to a really expensive nursing home

I would really appreciate any input. You can select more than one item on the poll, and also if you guys can, post how much you would be willing to pay for the services.

I'm 70 and considering retirement....your poll doesn't give all the correct options....it will be at LEAST 15-20 more years before I'll need ANY of these things.

Here's an idea...how about including in your business seniors coming to town to visit? You can be a personal assistant for however long they are visiting, pushing a wheelchair, carrying their purchases, arranging their transportation to and from the airport and hotels, making sure they eat when they are supposed to, medicine taking, etc. You know, like the entertainers who have personal assistants...you can also market your business to include visiting seniors, in need of a personal concierge type thing. Being bonded and insured is a plus, I don't know about licensing though, you'd have to check that out with the City of Las Vegas/Clark County.

Just an idea, and good luck to you. Hope it takes off for you!

That's a great idea! My elderly parents need help getting around when they visit me here. They have my husband and me to help them, but I'm sure there are a lot of seniors who would like to vacation here but don't because they don't have anyone to help them.

MomMom...that is a fantastic idea. So many caregivers, who really could use a vacation, would jump at it, I bet.

There are more possibilities like
1. Doing weekly grocery shopping
2. Pet sitting while folks are gone.
3. House sitting if someone is in the hospital.
4. Errand service picking up Meds and taking the car in for oil changes and repairs.

My wife's last property that she worked had an attached senior living complex. About 80 units. They did bi-annual surveys of what amenities/services the tenants wanted most. Transportation to go shopping(groceries) was always at the top of the list.

None of the above. Don't need any of that and hopefully won't for quite a while.
