Pool removal can actually be more expensive than repairing it. If you are considering the purchase of a sand-filled pool write into the offer that it be repaired or removed correctly. That pool can become dangerous like quicksand, resulting in death. Often it will be covered in soil so no one knows what is below until a heavy rain when it caves in. By code, pool demolition requires removal of all the concrete and rebar, and filling with soil that is compacted in a manner that would allow for building on top of it should someone in the future decide to add onto the home in that spot. It may even require an engineer's report.

After two pools, my first requirement for my realtor has always been --- NO POOL. For this house it was almost no back yard. But now I miss the back yard we had on Piñion Dr. Just don't miss the second story with only one A/C unit for the whole house.
