Just got back from a haircut when the news broke that he died, very sad.

This is the second time I've seen someone die at an Indy Car event, the first being at Charlotte in 99 which became the last time a Indy Car race was held.

It is very sad! And what is also sad is that the race had ten more cars than normal and before the race started, many drivers threatened to not even start the race because they had a bad feeling and didn't feel safe. Going 225 MPH in those cars is way to dangerous.

My Dad, daughter and I found our seats just moments after the wreck. YOu could tell from the reaction of the other drivers, and safety crew that it wasn't good.

Its not really the speeds that causes this, or that worries every one. Its the size of the track. 225 on a 1.5 mile, high banked oval is crazy. 225 at a flat 2.5mile "oval" (Indy), isn't so crazy. The track was made to make NASCAR races exciting.....and that result makes open wheel cars dangerous.

That was the conclusion in Charlotte back in 1999 when 3 spectators died after a crash. The shape of the track gave the drivers a sense of vertigo and because of that there was never another Indy Car race held at Charlotte.

I think LV's track is similar compared to Charlotte and if so it probably will mean the end of Indy Car racing here.

I was playing games on Pogo.com earlier today when this happened. Some people were talking about a horrific crash in the chat room of the game I was in, in a race being televised, so I turned on the TV and found it all on Channel 13. They kept playing the crash over and over again. Terrible thing and it stuck with me the rest of the day.

I'm still in shock that he is passed. One of the stars of Indy gone, and in Vegas of all places.
