I'd like a chicken-fried steak from Jo - Ell's. Went there once a week in the 70's.

Just like Denny's JB's or IHOP. Nothing special.

VC & Dyn, what was the greasy spoon on Charleston at about 15th, on the south side of Chas.? Or was it on Fremont? Hmmmmmmm?
If you didn't mind the flies it was one of the few places we had for lunch when Ch 3 was on Boulder Hiway and DI.

Mary's Diner on Boulder Hiway was best. I see it's still there, but I doubt if Mary is still there. Mary's Silly Chili was so good I ate tons of it, especially on her eggs or chili size. Then after we moved to Foremaster Lane, and we hired a production company from San Francisco to shoot promos for us on 16mm film, I recommended Mary's for a location shoot. Because we rented the place for the night, and even hired Mary to be our on camera talent, we had the run of the place. After bragging about Mary''s homemade chili to the crew, we discovered that she had about 30 cases of Hormel in the back room. I never heard the end of that.
