as a lifelong resident I used to love the old Red Rock theatres on Charleston. It's too bad they went to pot and were eventually raised.

Wow, that's one from the archives. I remember when that was the premier theater complex in Vegas. I seem to recall brick or cobblestone paths to the different theaters...or am I remembering a different theater complex? lol. How long ago was it demolished?

Yeah, I liked those too. You felt like you were in a real theater.

Among other things, I miss the original Stardust with the great lounge shows, and the Aku Aku restaurant.

The Landmark Hotel and its restaurant on top. Yes, I also remember the theaters on West Charleston and Decatur.

It become a discount theatre showing second run films. My last memory of it was coming out after seeing a movie and discovering someone had tried breaking into my truck. the window was shattered but nothing was taken.

I remember when Red Rock Theater expanded from a single screen to a multiplex. Everybody on the west end of town thought it was the greatest thing next to sliced bread. Then the rumor hit the streets that it was owned by an American hating rich Iranian living in Montreal. Business dropped and the rumor turned out to be false.

Ever ride the train out of there, Dyn? I did, up to Delta, UT, and it was quite an experience.

Also, I was sad to see the old ice house go down. Gov. Miller told me they were trying to turn it into a sort of mall, with antiques, craft shops, and restaurants, etc., then a little later it was just torn down. Before the advent of every store having ice machines, that's where we went to buy ice.
