We r moving from atlanta to vegas next week. Today i collected immunization form for my son and realized that hepatitis A is not in the list. He will be attending kindergarten from next week. Can he start attending the school, while i look for a pediatrician?? Please help.

No, they will not let your child attend or even register for school until he has his shot. I ran into this when I registered my son for school in April. We had to go to the local health clinic to get it taken care of. I think it cost $16. I ran into the problem again when I went to register my other child for kindergarten. I had figured I had the summer to get it done like back in OH, but again I had to wait to register him until he had his Hep. A shot.

Please find the immunization process for the Southern Nevada Health District at: http://www.southernnevadahealthdistr...unizations.htm

Their phone number is: 702-759-0850 and are located at: 625 Shadow Lane, between Charleston Blvd & Pinto Lane. A majority of children go to the immunization clinic there rather than a pediatrician. It's faster.

Here's a Goole Maps link to it: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...4591&z=16&om=1

Good luck and welcome to Las Vegas!

Ugh, for whatever reason, the URL format is not changeable and can't be clicked on. Sorry.

Try it now. And this is the best place to go for all your shots.

Also, be sure you follow up with the whole series or you will get a letter from the school telling you your child can not come back until you show proof that the series has been completed. I was also used to getting my children's immunizations at the ped's office but here it really is better going to the health department.
