If you pack yourself, don't bother purchasing any insurance from the moving company. Anything that breaks - well, they'll investigate & say "PBO" - packed by owner - and BECAUSE it is PBO, they assume you just didn't do a good job packing & they will deny the claim. You are basically f*kd and there isn't anything you can do about it.

Thanks Sporty and Misty. Really great info and I know it's true. I'll keep it all in mind and I know about the PBO. Went through it after the Northridge Quake of '94 and my move to No Cal. Basically things that survived the quake the movers broke but because we packed it, they blamed it on us
Really pissed me off.

Anyway, thanks again.

I really like Moovers. Very professional and the least expensive.

I'd steer clear of U-Haul. Budget is better.

We rented a pensky truck & hired a crew to load & unload, but we did a ton of research on a site I think was called moving scam.com. Google moving scam & it will come up. I think moovers was one of the ones with a good record if I remember correctly.

I intended to do the same, but friends ended up loading and unloading with me instead. Salt Lake to Vegas cost me $400 for the biggest Penske and a tank and a half of diesel .fuel.
