My girlfriend is Vietnamese, so I will trust her judgment. We love Saigon 8. The staff is friendly and the place is SPOTLESS!. Pho kim long would be our second choice. Hope that helps.

First of all, read the R/J Taste section on Wednesdays for the Health Dept. report.

Chinese buffets (at least some of them) are among the worst offenders of health codes. Be sure to check out the Health License hanging near the entrance.

An "A" rating doesn't mean no problems -- restaurants can pay a fee and get re-evaluated. That's why you need to read the report on Wednesdays. You'll see the same places OVER AND OVER if you read it every Wednesday.

An A rating means from 0-9 demerits. Usually minor things like employees drinking from cups while working or a thermometer in need of calibration in a refrigerator.

Anything involving the handwashing station is 10 demerits and an immediate B or lower. Keep that in mind.

B's and C's are almost always for Time-Temperature abuse of foods, or cross-contamination issues. This is the stuff that makes people sick.

So, now a little admission -- all of my Vegas in-laws were born in China. I eat a LOT of Chinese.

So, what's the best Chinese buffet? In general, I find it's the Asian sections of the Casino buffets -- Rio's Carnival World has a pretty good Asian section. Green Valley Ranch has a small Chinese section, but they have Mongolian BBQ.

Buffet @ Asia is my mother in law's favorite buffet. I don't really agree, because I haven't found one that I like yet. I'm going to try Little Dumplings on W Craig next -- unless someone here steers me away from it.

My favorite cheap Chinese is the a'la Carte stuff that can be found at the Asian grocery stores: International Market and 168 Market. While not "all you can eat" it's cheap enough that you can have a very nice filling lunch for about the same price as the all-you-can-eat joints.

I had a customer [a player] when i worked in Atlantic City....Was an Oriental guy and his son from NY...Players in AC are notorious for not wanting to give their names....but he gave us his.... hw was Q Pho and his son was Q Pho the 2nd....
When you pulled them up in the computer to check the play ratings they came up as
Pho Q
Pho Q II

I gotta think they had a sense of humor lol

Sushi? At a Chinese buffet?

That's faux sushi. Pho shizzle.

It's generally understood that you ignore the sushi offerings at virtually every Chinese buffet.

Jenny Pho on south rainbow is Pho-n-tastic.

Agreed, but I have had some sushi at buffets that was OK. Not GREAT, but better than the overcooked General Tso's chicken.
