I read a story a while back (Sun or LVRJ) about a company here that took your money for whatever lottery tickets you wanted, and they would drive over to Arizona to get them. You would pick up the tickets. Does anyone remember that story or know the name of the company that does that? Or if they are still in business?

I find it interesting that Nevada, the gambling capital of the planet, does not have a state lottery.

"People don't buy a lottery ticket just because they have a chance of winning. They'll buy a lottery ticket because, over the next couple of days, it allows them to fantasize about what they would do if they won the lottery. And the sense they're paying for that experience, rather than for the chance at lottery, itself." . . Scott Huettel

For those curious . . last legislative session SJR1 history (no action by Senate committee).

Lotto Express

New Las Vegas lottery ticket delivery may not be legal

Closed Down:

Lotto Express, servers still running ...

Lotto Express closes down

They tried to get around a law charging for the service, accepting "tips" instead, but any way you slice it, "[t]he lottery is illegal in Nevada." This according to Fox 5:

Company Brings Lottery To Las Vegans 5-11-2011

My guess, SouthernSarah, is that entrenched interests (casinos and the like) see a lottery as a form of competition that would eat into their customer base.

That makes sense. In Tennessee we have the lottery. I am not a gambler, but once or twice a year I toss a buck on the counter at the gas station and ask the clerk to pick my numbers. I don't ever win, hell, sometimes I lose the ticket before the lottery date. LOL But I do enjoy fantasizing about what I will do with the millions if I win. I have some long time friends who were there for me during some tough times in the past, so each of them would immediately get $1 million tax free delivered to their bank accounts as a thank you from me.

They really need a lottery here. It would really help the schools and other programs the government is always cutting.
By not having a lottery here, thousands if not more of us drive to the border every few months to buy more lottery tickets. You can play the same numbers for up to 20 draws and this way you only have to go there once every 2 and a half months.
By closing down places that were doing a good service like Lottery Express is not going to make us all stop going to the border.
