I have looked over these threads but didn't find much on point so hopefully you all can help!

I am curious as to which areas of Las Vegas metro have large young professional populations (i.e. 20s and 30s).

We are looking into getting an apartment in Las Vegas so we can split time between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. We would be looking for a 1 bedroom apartment or leased condo up to $900 a month (not including utilities).

Having been to Las Vegas many times, we asked a lot of casino employees who named a bunch of neighborhoods. We drove the neighborhoods, but still, haven't been able to narrow it down.

We have heard Henderson, Downtown, and places along the Strip. Obviously Las Vegas is far more spread out than Los Angeles and the young professional population is not as heavily concentrated.

But does anyone have specific neighborhoods or complexes that have a lot of young professionals within that $900 a month price range for a 1 bedroom?

Thanks!

Silverado - 89123. Manhattan or Boca Raton or such.

You find 20/30 families in Centennial Hills, Inspirada, Mountains Edge. They exist in places like Green Valley Ranch and Summerlin but generally integrated into the population. Also find them in Panorama including lots of poker players. There are some concentration downtown in Soho and Newport.

YOur pricing is a little light for many of those.

Thanks!

What price range would broaden options for those areas?

You are at or just below the bottom edge in Boca Raton, Manhattan and Park Avenue. 1/1s in those start at about 900 and go to 1150.

Panorama and Newport start around 1500 and go up from there.

Another area you may want to look at is the southwest. 89148. The area has always struck me as having a younger demographic, and the complexes are all going to be new and clean. It shouldn't be too far off from your price range (maybe close to $1000?).

Also, who told you that downtown was a good idea? Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're VERY familiar with the area and know what you're getting into...

How accurate are you with small arms? Do you have your conceal carry permit?

My girlfriend and I fit the description of young professionals and know a good number of others that fit that description. Including us, all our peers in that demographic (that we know) own houses scattered throughout the valley (we are in Aliante). We have about four households in our neighborhood (just that we know of) that fit that description, the rest of the neighborhood is mostly single families though.

If you have 20% down on a house you can avoid mortgage insurance and get a good sized house within your $900 per month price range.

Haha. Seriously. I suppose the one perk is that there are always cops around...quick response time?

[To be fair, I think there are a couple areas close to downtown that are slowly being gentrified, but they're still very close to the bad areas...]

Thanks for the tips! I figured Southwest had the most young professionals. I know that Las Vegas is way more spread out and so is that demographic versus Los Angeles. I had a feeling downtown wouldn't be great, but thought I'd ask since I did see construction around there (wasn't sure what was being constructed).

I saw a 1/1 in Manhattan for $900 and 1/1 in Park Avenue Apts. for $825. Looks like they are lease by owner so maybe a little negotiating won't hurt.

Any other ideas? Thanks everyone!
