I fixed it 2 hours after they told me I had a leak! They were supposed to send me leak abatement papers last week but I haven't seen any yet! A supervisor is also supposed to call. Bills due Monday, no call, no papers!

Just for future reference where was the leak and how did you fix it? Also how did you find it in the first place as I assume there wasn't a big puddle.
Thanks

Default where was the leak

The leak was in the sprinkler solenoid in the irrigation controls. I don't no anything about it but the repairs were only $50 for parts and $80 for labor. Much cheaper than the leak! I wish I had Known from the start that it was leaking! By the way the next months bill is $1300 as they didn't let me know until half way into the next billing cycle!

Your leak was 330,000 gallons, and there are just over 330x2 hours in a month, so you leaked 500 gallons per hour, every hour, all month, or around 8 gallons per minute (I'm doing this without a calculator). That's a lot of water to not notice, unless it was spread over a large area. My 1.5gpm leak in a 1200 square foot area for two weeks made the ground damp, but it wasn't a swamp. But your leak was more than five times the volume of mine.

My lot is 8200' but most of it is concrete. I personally think it is impossible but the water company says it happened. They said they physically read the meter the day I moved in and have a reading. They also say that now that the sprinkler thing is fixed my usage is normal. Since I can't prove they're wrong I just have to pay it! Or have them turn off the water!

Thats one hell of a high water bill. You have got to have a leak somewhere. Just turn off all the water faucets & check your water meter. The lttle red dial should be spinning round & round. Keep us updated. My last water bill was $7.00 but i dont live in a house & i live alone with my cats. I conserve water, power, gas, etc.

did you pay the $1555 bill, and then have a $1300 bill afterwards?

For years i had a drip drip leak in my bathtub & it never registered on the old water meter. Last nov the mgr changed the water meter & now it registers. I didnt fix the bathtub faucet leak cause i have a big plastic container that the water drips into so the cats can drink it + i use the water for other things. I figured it out & it uses 25 cents worth of water per month. Thats not too shabby so the leak stays & the cats love jumping into the bathtub & drinking the water (esp my 2 oldest cats).
