Does anyone have experience with a dealership here in town that handles consignment sales? I'm inquiring for a family member.

The vehicle in question is a top tier 2006 Acura, but I haven't done the research yet if some of the high end resellers would even consider this car.

I would particularly like to hear from someone who has done this successfully or knows the pitfalls to consider. Please DM or reply directly.

sad thing is that all the dealerships here use AFC as their finance source.. what kind of car is it.. i can check the auction prices so you have an idea of what its worth and don't get ripped.

It's a 2006 Acura RL with 48k miles, all available options including adaptive cruise control and in excellent condition. I'm not sure if selling it as a private party will work for the owner, given the intricacies of selling a car that way. Carmax (or something like it) is a last resort.

The car has a lien but is about par equity for the reported KBB trade-in value of 18,500. Private party is somewhere near 23K. The owner owes around 17K. I figure places like Carmax don't buy cars for trade in value. A wholesale price would be very helpful so we know what to look for.

Getting rid of the car in a short time is the ultimate goal.

Manheim is showing anywhere from $11000 with 80k to $16000 with 55k. There are not to many of these cars around. If he trades he should see 18k because of the profit in the car he's buying

The RL is not a good seller for Acura. I think its an great car, but I personally like the TSX the best. They are also hard to find.

If he trades? We are trying to get this person out from the car altogether...no trade...just a sale. We are going to Carmax tomorrow to see what they will offer and go from there. I figure it will give us a baseline and then see if trying another avenue makes sense.

Your help is appreciated.

consider taking it to carmax on sahara... they may offer you an acceptable value. I am thinking about doing this with my 2008 Accord v6 if it does not sell on Craigslist.
