I'm looking to sign on with a legitimate modeling agency that leans more towards national print work (think catalogs) rather than the local work that leans more towards the Las Vegas image, which I am not.

Does anyone know of a good agency in town? Thanks for your help.

I think Buzz or Dyn (I forget which) has a full-blown photographer's studio set up...in their basement.

Not sure about catalog shoots but an ex coworker of mine signed with a local agency and books deals to be in local magazines, commercials & movies (extra in the hangover). Ill try and find the name of it. I believe it was something like wildstreak.

YEAHHHHHHH, BABYYYY!

It's been a while since I was in the biz, but as I recall, one never goes to one agency, and signs on, and expects to get a lot of work. The way it's done is you carry your portfolio around to ALL the agencies, and hope one of them calls you sooner or later to meet with clients. It's called making the rounds. Something only you can do yourself. Don't quote me on this, but I'd ask other models about whether they have paid an agency to be listed. I don't think that's legitimate though. They should get all their money from the clients.

The modeling agencies don't do the print ads that I know of. Advertising agencies go to the modeling agencies for " cattle calls" (or line-ups, or whatever PC name you want to give it), and they look for models that might best represent their client's product. The Mad Men pay the agency, the agency takes their cut and pays the model, like a temp job. That is, unless you're Gisele Bundchen.

Creating a portfolio and going on go-sees and casting calls constantly after u sign with an agency will get you work

Don't forget that either Daily (or Weekly) Variety publishes casting calls for Las Vegas, and there are probably other such publications, plus the grapevine, that local models use. There are a lot of models, actors, and extras living in Las Vegas. Many go to casting calls in LA from here, and vice versa. You just need the right face (or body, or body parts, or voice) they are looking for, and be there in the right place at the right time. Easy.
