My son was transported to Sunrise Hospital recently because he needed specialized care. (Care that wasn't available in our small town area.)...Sunrise has banners up stating that they won several "best of Vegas" awards recently...How is Sunrise Hospital generally regarded by locals? Just curious. Thanks.

Sunrise is the hospital built by the mob back in the '50s. The difference between the mob owning it and the corporations that have run it over the years, is that the mob cared more about people than profits. But, you no longer expect gun shot victims with no insurance to die in the parking lot, as happened a few times in the distant past. There are laws about stuff like that now.

That said, Sunrise is generally a pretty good hospital, especially for heart patients, and I believe, for kids. Although UMC is regarded as the best hospital for kids, it's just marketing, I'm told. I've survived procedures at both and don't have anything bad to say about either one, except that my cardiologist (EP) says I am a lot safer at Sunrise where they are better equipped to take care of cardiac emergencies.

Took our daughter there for some outpatient physical therapy. I have no complaints, but like I said was outpatient. Loved her physical therapist though =) Wish I had more insight for you!
