This post is for the birds. I find the Mocking Birds are the worst for all nite noise, but have found others that are capable too of wrecking a good nights sleep. They stop by June or July.

I thought it was weird, because birds are chirping and making lots of noise at night for a few weeks now. I thought they were ticked off because of the wind and the unusual weather.

I thought the mocking bird was vacationing in Spain.

OK, so it's not just me. Others have noticed it too.

It could be horny birds. Or something else. They don't sound angry or threatened, just ordinary daytime noises. There are cats in the neighborhood but there are lots of safe places for birds to hang out.

Any ornithologists out there who would care to offer an opinion?

I checked last night around 3:30AM...not a peep was heard. Was however a dark and stormy night so they may have hid out.

The morning doves were going at it just before dawn...but they always do...

Got one character by the BR window who may be about to catch a BB.

'Mourning' dove - not 'morning' dove - because the males sound like they are mourning when they are looking for a mate. I call them 'pleading' doves, since thats really what we men do. Also known as turtledoves as they are so lovey dovey.

OC, when I was a kid and I'd go 'bird hunting' with my Daisy Red Ryder carbine, my dad would always quote that bible verse about sparrows falling and Big G knowing what you did. So I'd be careful if I was you.

Live and learn. I have associated them with the morning for so long it never occurred to me that they were sad...

I generally use a low pressure setting so the bb does not penetrate. Scare and hurt a little rather than kill. Works good on crows. Has a pretty good telescopic sight so if I can get a shot I almost always get them. The dove however may prove impossible...unless he continues until the sun come up. I don't think I can see him in half light.
