We don't have an attic, just an airspace. We have a plumbing manifold system, and our pipes are PVC in the ceiling. The idiots that did the insulation put it under the pipes instead of over them, so it takes 20 minutes to get hot water in the winter, or cold water in the summer. I'd like to get some more insulation between the roof and the pipes, but don't know how to get to them without tearing out the ceilings. Anyone have experience with that problem?

Did u get the rebates yet? I am having paperwork issues with insulation specialists. They also don't like to return calls. Macgeek, I would rethink your decision. The radiant barrier is not worth the money IMO. Funny when insulation specialists was giving me the estimate, the sales guy was laughing about the cost of the barrier. Does not seal anything, price, yada yada yada

Now I am getting confused.. I don't have to 'wait' for any rebates, there bundled into the price.
I emailed them with some additional questions, I am doing research on the radiant barrier and yea it seems like a waste one money, We will see what they say

Thanks for the heads up

Jonathan

if you are trying to save utility money, the best thing to do, imo is to tint the windows or get the screens (tint seems much better though)... I did both... last year i put screens on 5 west windows (no tint).. this year I tinted the rest of the house (not the screen windows).. house is much much cooler... no ac yet. im actually going to tint the screen windows next.

The rebate from SW Gas comes in the mail in 8 weeks. I'm assuming you still get this one and there was no time element.
