Contemplating a move from L.I. New york to summerlin--- Was wondering, what do residents do with their kids during the summer? Are there day "camps"? My kids LOVE camp here.

I would really love to connect and talk with someone who has small children and lives in vegas so I can really get some solid info.

Thanks in advance.

JCC runs a well known one....

There is a list of others at...

Las Vegas Area Summer Day Camps

Meadows and Dawson school would both be first class.

How small a child?

Remember summer in Vegas which lasts from about May to October, is way over 100 degrees outside.

It's not 100 degrees from May to October, haha, sorry. It's 100 degrees basically June, July, and August. There are on average about 100 days per year at or above 100 degrees in Vegas, so those are the worst offenders by month.

Whatever you do, please don't bring the small kids near the Strip. I'm hoping that is the one 3-4 mile stretch of road in this country where I can escape the incessant whining of people's crotch droppings. Kthx. lol, j/k

Many of the strip clubs run a camp. Pole dancing is great exercise for the little ones...and it's in indoors with air conditioning.

Just put a tarp over their cage and consider installing misters on it. You can pick up some decent low pressure misters from Costco for $30.

Danknee, if I could legally get away with that, I might consider reproducing. OP, Summerlin is a great neighborhood, so there are bound to be lots of things to do for kids. Check Yahoo Groups to see if there are any mommy groups in the area. You may meet a few people with some really great recommendations.
