"Alternative Medicine" that actually has been shown to work is just called Medicine.

A Medical Doctor that uses Alternative Medicine is ignoring his scientific training.

If you want Alternative Medicine you don't want a Medical Doctor (MD).

Insurance Companies don't want to pay for scientifically unsupported remedies.

This is 100% correct, but when you say that, the alternative medicine conspiracy theorists come out of the woodwork. They'll say that "they" (doctors/government/pharmaceutical industry) don't want to allow natural remedies to exist alongside scientifically proven medical treatment because it defeats their profit motive, that studies don't get funded because you can't patent a plant, blah blah blah. There's just no convincing them.

Sit down to watch television on any given evening. I can almost guarantee you will be witness to at least 8 ads for prescription drugs, with a list of side effects as long as your arm. I think any medical professional who could prescribe them knowing those dangers is either delusional or is a puppet for Big Pharmaceutical. I used to take phone orders for one of the big Rx mail order companies. 8 out of 10 callers would be ordering 6-12 meds at a time. I had to quit because I couldn't handle it any more.

I believe we are being manipulated, and if I sound like a conspiracy theorist, so be it. Like another posted earlier, I have no problem taking an antibiotic if I need it, or a pain medicine if I'm really hurting (as long as it's temporary). They can keep the rest of it.

This seems to have gotten a little off topic, but if you're still looking for an alternative medicine doctor that has been trained in conventional medicine, then Dr. Armen Nikogosian at Southwest Functional Medicine is your doc! I am seeing him for digestive complaints after I was turned away from my gastro. He is extremely knowledgeable and spends more than 5 minutes with his patients! I highly recommend him for anyone that needs help with what he offers: Services (702) 616-4001 He's actually a functional medicine doctor which is a unique type of training. I'd recommend learning a little about functional medicine first and see if it's a good fit for what you're going through.
