So come on everyone should i give it all up and move to Vegas seriously?
A little bit about me, im a divorced man of 34 with no kids and now no bloody wife! Ive got my own business in a little place called Bedford in England. Im mortgaged up to the max on my house and had more than enough of this recession. Ive visited Vegas quite a few times and loved it but still unsure if to make the move? Tell me is there still jobs there and i dont mean working at Burger King. Middle management jobs with fairly good pay? What's the average salary? What are the house prices like? Are mortgages easily accessable or would i be better of to rent a place and at what sort of cost? And of course what are the Vegas women like? Dont get me wrong i love the showgirls of Vegas but dont wanna settle down and marry one. So i want to make sure the ladies like us English men and that they arent all gold diggers as it seems to be portrayed?

I'd stay in the UK right now if I were you.

I don't think English men have any problem with the ladies. They do, however, have problems with the Immigration and Naturalization Service.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but ... it's my understanding, from friends in Scotland (and Germany) who would like to come here, that unless you've been waiting on the "U.S. immigration list" from your given country for years and your number has finally come up, you have to have an employer certify that they have a job for you that you are uniquely qualified to do (i.e., no American is capable of doing said job). Until then, you can come here on a temporary visitor visa or a student visa, and you're also welcome to come here and bring your own business (or personal wealth) with you. But to come here to look for a job just because you feel like it isn't really part of their plan. Were you to come here illegally (for instance, arrive on a visitor visa and then just stay) you'd only be able to work for employers illegally paying cash off the books and you'd be competing with many, many other illegal immigrants for those jobs, which are becoming fewer and fewer as the penalties increase.

There's also the option to get a green card by marrying an American citizen, but that's quite difficult to do, too, thanks to the number of people who try to abuse the system.

I think it's pretty much the same deal if I wanted to move to England, too. Your government would be OK with it as long as I'm bringing my own money and/or my own business, but they wouldn't let me in to take an existing job that could go to a British subject.

Stay in Bedford, at least you get some rotten weather, crappy road conditions, prices going up all the time, on second thoughts, move to Vegas and try to find a job, but it only pays a good bit under $8 hr, day to day, no benefits, but houses are cheap, very cheap, some as low as $15000

Now that, is funny!

As quite rightly posted above, there is no option to just "come on over and stay".

If you have about $500k to invest you can get (maybe) a E2 visa.

Jukesgrrl hit the nail on the head with that summary. I just got my green card (through kids and marriage) and the process for you will be very tough and perhaps unlikely (unless you have the money for a business). I am trying to move from England also (Dover ) having lived most of my life in Bermuda. I have been applying for jobs in Vegas for about 18 months and have had a grand total of 1 interview!! Good luck to you - I totally understand your desire to head to Vegas.

Nike said it before: Just do it !
Not saying it's easy, and that you should just head out and see what it brings.
But if you plan things, do your research, and see what options you have, why not.
I understand your desire, and the fact that you pretty much don't leave anything behind.
But maybe you can save up some money first, and then just stay on your 3 month tourist visa.
There are apts there that have 3 months lease. Then you can see what it's like, explore the city,
maybe you'll hate it, and you'll be glad you didn't jump into the deep end right away.
But a famous football player once said:
If you don't shoot the ball, you can't score....
