It has never gone out for more than a few hours, and usually, if it does go out, it's for a few minutes. But you probably would go to the pool if it was out that long in the summer. Or you could go to a hotel because they all have generators. This is not for guest comfort though. It's so nobody makes off with the chips that are on the tables.

Also, if the power is out on one side of town, all you have to do is drive a mile or so and go in a supermarket and bask in their a/c until the power gets turned back on in your area. The power is never out all over the entire valley, except for that one day way back in 2000 the year i first moved out here. That sucked. Right when it hit the hottest temp for the entire summer. But other than that, power has only fluctuated a bit during thunderstorms.

Pinkish...if I remember correctly they were playing with the power grid in the west to try and make us accept monumental rate increases.....

Nevada Power does a reasonable job and is well staffed and skilled.

We have always had premium service on our cul-de-sac and the section as we have a nursing home and there are several others close by.

We had an underground cable failure a couple of years ago that took us down for 5 or 6 hours. The guys worked all night and had a temporary above ground cable restoring power in by dawn.

But I would expect an outage about every year or so...which is par for a high quality urban grid. I would also not expect any of these outages to last more than an hour or two maximum

The only places with unreliable power would be Mt. Charleston and Cold Spring. Backup power there is common. In fact a good part of Cold Spring has no service.
