Very sad. I can't say more than that.

I personally consider it quite stupid. Instead of uniting against those who bring us ALL to poverty, some think it's amusing to bash other states as if the situation in their own is a bed of roses.
Sorry, but that was very childish to take my thread in the Arizona section personal. You must not have even seen this thread I started in the Las Vegas section yesterday on how bad it has gotten here:

You also must have missed this one I started too:

Don't doubt there are 13,000 homeless. Agents will tell you about finding squatters in many foreclosed properties. Many of the homeless aren't necessarily on the streets, some live in cars or quietly in hard to see areas like the storm drains, sometimes taking a dive room for a night every now and then when they get a paycheck. Homeless kids sometimes stay with other family or with friends. My friend works in social services and has a new "can you believe this" story to tell every week. Her most recent one was of a family of five where the cook bribed the night manager $100 a month to let his family sleep on air mattresses in the offices and they took showers using the spray nozzle in the dishwashing area. They got arrested when the owner came in one day at 4:30am and he insisted on pressing charges against everyone. So now the homeless kids have two parents in county jail for criminal trespass and were sent to protective services. Sure what they did was a crime, but taxpayers in Nevada are now paying to incarcerate and care for kids, all because a cook's salary isn't quite enough to afford rent.
I work in social services as well and the funding is being cut like crazy. When the kids and adults don't get the services they need, they become a burden in another way that usually costs even more. The eventual consequence is that the price tag eventually comes around to the county and to the tax payers. Those who think cutting education and social services is a fiscally responsible plan regardless of their morals should take a second look.

I simply got really tired of the unnecessary abuse of the AZ forums and decided to show 2 can play this game. Can't quite see why my post is childish and yours is not. Now I understand you're an equal-opportunity Debbie Downer. Not sure what your point and intentions are, but carry on... In case you haven't noticed, the whole country is going down the toilet and it's hardly worth irritating each other.

It's childish because you retaliated. If you think it's "hardly worth" irritating each other over, then you wouldn't have made this post so the Las Vegas section can "see how it feels."

I guess it's a fine line between informed and childish.

Three words. Pot. Kettle. Black.

Pot, meet Kettle.

So you "got really tired of the unnecessary abuse" & then decided to volley with your own insight, coming here to share negativity?

How petulant.

Well, I guess I learned the lesson that your post is much more relevant & promoting positive discussion.

Now that I've wasted 5 minutes of my life here, I'll move on ... let's try to discuss something productive & helpful.

Love & peace, everyone. To each his own.

My thread in the Arizona forum was not childish because I was not retaliating against anyone. I merely came across the link in the news and posted it. Childish would be now going to the Tucson forum (a section I never go to) and post negative links. I am sorry you took my thread over there personal, but at least now you can see it was no way directed at you.

Just goes to show that there will always be people ready to take personal affront.
We will never be free of tribalism.

I think it's pretty normal to want to defend the city/state you live in. I know I get sick Vegas bashing.
