On checking the stats for the Vegas metro cities/designated areas, I found that North LV, Sunrise Manor, and Spring Valley all have a hispanic majority. Paradise and Las Vegas City also have a large hispanic population (30%).

I've heard of immigration problems in AZ due to the recent legislation, but never in Las Vegas or anywhere in Nevada. Is there a widespread illegal immigrant problem in Vegas, or is this just how the demographics are shifting out there?

With the new sb1070 law, you can expect a large flocking of illegals to Las Vegas.

Generally speaking Hispanics are all over Vegas but are concentrated more from Decatur Blvd heading all the way toward the East side of Las Vegas. Yes they have been coming over here for a long time now from California. The ones that cannot make it in California because of the higher standard of living end up here in Las Vegas, NV.

Do you know not how to spell more or are you hinting that Michael Moore is going to do a documentary on the plight of the Hispanics in Clark County.

If you're going to start a thread titled Las Vegas being taken over by Hispanics, then perhaps Las Vegas isn't for you. I think you might be happier moving from SoCal to some lily white haven elsewhere.

Vegas has always been a destination for illegals. Good weather, close to Mexico, California, and lots of relatively unskilled jobs.....or at least there used to be a lot of unskilled jobs. And it's easier to relocate to a place that already has a large Hispanic population.

hispanic does not equal illegal.

I just moved here from Albuquerque and are people actually scared out here b/c of the increasing Hispanic population??? really??? I can see worry about increasing illegal immigration, increasing unemployment/people on public assistance, but again, Hispanic does not equal illegal immigrant.

Apparently NM does not equal NV but come on....

Maybe that is not what you mean but it sure turned into "all the illegals like to come here".

BTW isn't the Hispanic ethnicity the fastest growing ethnicity currently? It would make sense in pretty much any large city to see increasing numbers.

This thread definitely needs a title change.

Maybe...

"Is Las Vegas overtaken by illegals?? not hispanics.

I agree, just because someone is Hispanic does not mean they are illegal. I think a lot of people that move from parts of country that do not have a large hispanic population assume the worst. It would like me being a white guy going to Atlanta and wonder why there are so many black people, lol. Las Vegas, So Cal, AZ, NM have large Hispanic populations due to proximity to Mexico, weather, cultural ties, family, etc. People need to stop assuming Hispanics are illegal. The large majority are legal, law abiding, hard working citizens and should be treated as such unless you can prove otherwise.
