Hi all

Hoping someone here can advise me on somewhere beautiful to spend a long weekend in the NM mountains?

Mescalero has been suggested and looks wonderful.

The recommended hotel Inn of the Mountain Gods is full - are there any other good hotels or B&B's you know of?

We are most likely flying from Austin to El Paso, renting a car at airport.

thanks!

I bought my wife a weekend stay for our anniversary, but I got sick and we were extended a raincheck to this place. I'm glad to hear the positive review.

Default Nogal and Alto

I would think that the Nogal area has a Bed and Breakfast and its a good area to explore the center of N.M. Theres Ruidoso, Carrizozo and Capitan and Ft Stanton and Lincoln and Hondo and its Mountains theres Bonito Lake. >>>>>That area near Nogal is having a Pinon Season it doesnt come often but theres lots of families out there picking Pinon. Pinon is probably gonna run over 20 dollars a lb salted and Roasted. Its a Delicious Nut on pine trees that everyone at least once in their Lifetime should try picking pinon. el pintada kid

Hey there Southdown,
What are you looking for? Things to do, relax, outdoor activities?
THe mountains here in Timberon are beautiful.
Atv'ing if you're into that is big here.
Walking/Climbing/hiking are big here too as you see me post in the exercise forum.
Ruidoso is a couple of hours from here to do the touristy things and gambling.

Oh yeah, Timberon is wonderful also. I've been there. The golf is nice...scenery, seclusion. Do they have a B and B there?

A great escape!

Hi!! A big yes to all the above!

Some relaxing walking/hiking, some more active - maybe a bit of climbing...

Sons would LOVE to ATV! So would the men!

Thanks for the tips

You might get a better response if you posted in the New Mexico forum, rather than the Las Cruces sub-forum. There are mountainous areas all over the state.
