This is an area of interest to my husband and me. We are both 60+, and he is a Disabled Veteran, so he needs to be within a reasonable distance of a VA Hospital. We need a change of scenery from NW Alabama, and both love the Smoky Mountain area. We would probably be looking for a home (preferably new) in the $175-200K range, and property taxes are not an issue. Does anyone have any suggestions for us? Needless to say, we are looking for as safe an area as possible. Thoughts? Thank you!

There is a VA hospital in Johnson city so you might look at that forum. Knoxville only has a clinic. Would that help?

The people we are buying our home from are moving to the Nashville area so they can avail themselves of the VA hospital there. I suggest to see if the VA clinic will meet your husband's medical needs in the years ahead before relocating to the Knoxville area.
