There is a Lutheran church in Seymour, and one on Chapman Hwy closer to downtown Knoxville. You can Google and get results for 12 churches in the Knoxville area to find one close to where you want to live.
$750K should be fine for buying a big house, but depends on the area. 10 kids would require a lot of bedrooms, so you may be buying a HUGE house.
But unless twins run in your family, the 10th kid will not be for several years, so you could buy a house now that will house 4 kids, and plan on moving up in a few years as you add to the family.

Thanks. No history of multiples, but we fully expect to have our kids close together. On that note: how welcoming is the area for Lutherans and large families? The price point is negotiable, size less so.

I can't comment on how accepting the area is for Lutherans, because most people don't walk around with signs that advertise where they go to church. I have yet to see pickets outside ANY church in Knoxville badmouthing the members.
Since there are several Lutheran churches in the Knoxville area, I would think there is a decent population of Lutherans.

I would think that 10 kids might get you a fair amount of looks when you go out, because thats not exactly the norm of 2.5 kids. But I think that having 10 kids would get you looks no matter where you live.

LOL Barking Spider! I think the intent of the question about Lutherans was more because here in the bible belt there are more Baptists than anything else. I met with much resistance because I was baptised by sprinkling and not dunked. Another potential point of contention is communion. Some Lutheran churches that believe in transubstantiation don't allow other Lutherans to commune if they don't believe the same...

Maybe this was TMI but what do you expect from a preacher's kid?

Another one of those trolls that have the perception that Knoxville is some sort of backwards town, I'm guessing :/

I live in Seymour. No problem for you finding a place and fitting in. Nice quieter area, but 20 minutes to Knoxville, Maryville or Sevierville/Pigeon Forge (well when traffic is light in Sevierville, which it is NOT in the Summer).

Not to mention a Southern Baptist Convention school hiring a Lutheran! PS, I was born, raised and was a Lutheran for many, many years. Now I'm Episcopal and many Southern Baptists think we are Satan's spawn, too!

Edit: His account says he's a "cafeteria Catholic!"

Hilarious!
