I'd second the Lynchburg Virginia recommendation, except the city is only ~60% white, and it's pretty close to anything-goes, artsy fartsy, liberal Charlottesville. Maybe some towns in Utah.

I could also recommend some great little towns here in Alaska. Wasilla seems right up your alley.

But, reading the responses in this thread, it seems like it might have some of that, but has a lot of eveything else too, and not against the rest either.
Knoxville, meet your nutshell.

The more I've thought about this, the more I conclude that a Midwest burb of a small to larger city, could really work, just as Tiger Beer writes. Of course, there are many exceptions to every rule. YMMV.

Isn't it funny that you were hampered by the same kind of pre-judgement you would have decried in another context?

So he gets a pass for something like this... Maybe the OP should move there after all.

I second Oklahoma. Oh, wait, there are native Americans there. My bad.

Gosh, there's got to be somewhere in this great nation for someone like the OP. Idaho might work, but too many Mormons, and you know they're not really "Christian".

I'm sure if we put our minds together we can come up with a place to tell him to go to.

I think you might find more Mormons in Utah.

My family is moving to Knoxville this summer. I am retiring from the military and looking for civilian employment. We could move anywhere we want and we are choosing the area partially due to its Libertarian leanings. It is good to see our impressions reinforced in this thread.

We are actually considering either Farragut or Maryville. I know about the differences in home prices. I "think" Farragut is more bourgeoisie and Maryville is more country. Is this accurate? Any insight on cultural differences would help. Since I am asking about the culture of the area, I hope no one thinks I am hijacking the thread.

Maryville isn't "country" in the east TN sense of the word. Farragut is more affluent, if that's what you're getting at.
