I have been considering relocating to Eastern TN for 20 years now and I can envision it becoming a reality. Does anyone know of any social groups, perhaps on Facebook, that I could join to discuss my future endeavors?

I am hoping to reside in the Smoky Mountain area (Gatlinburg, Marysville, Sevierville, etc ...), wherever that may be. Would love to chat with a local person.

That's kind of the purpose of this forum. If you do a search of past threads here, you should be able to get more than enough opinions on the area.

This forum is the one for questions re: the Smoky Mountains area, since Knoxville is the nearest metro area. Do a search to see if your questions have already been answered. If not, ask away.

If you need a job you may find yourself working in Knoxville. You will want to consider the commute from Sevierville, since tourist traffic can really clog that area up. Maryville will have far less traffic issues, and it is close to the mountains as well. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are fun places to visit, but dealing with their traffic day after day would get old. Of course there are ways around some of the traffic, but still it can be insane during peak tourist times. Living in Knoxville is still not that far from the mountains, and from many areas in Knoxville you get a great view of the Smoky Mountains. (depending on weather of course)

Well my dream is getting a little closer,,, we bought a small lot in Dandridge,, Dandridge is exactly 846 miles from my doorstep,, being that it's so far away we visited during all seasons,, to get a feel for different weather,, traffic and this allowed us to drive to different areas,, because of the way our finances are structured we had a limited budget.. we're going back down in the spring about 6 weeks, (hope this weather breaks) we'll let you know how it goes..

I love Dandridge and envy you for the cuteness. Is this a retirement home or will you need jobs? Stick built or manufactured?
