This project, while likely costing more than $100m in the end (this is a government project!), will run from the Wendell Ford Bluegrass Parkway to the Louie Nunn Cumberland Parkway, a distance of 48 miles or basically from Smiths Grove to Elizabethtown. The entirety of I-65 in Kentucky will then be a minimum of six lanes.
Let's install some cable barriers while we're at it, too. They'll contour better with the lay of the road, be cheaper than concrete, likely be as effective and won't have the damaging effect on vehicles that concrete walls would. As dangerous as this stretch of highway is, that's my suggestion. But then I'm no longer a resident of Kentucky and the Transportation Cabinet isn't asking me, soooooo...

$100 million is a drop in the ocean compared to the cost of replacing the Ohio River bridges. It is needed, and as much for the rest of America as Kentucky. I regularly travel the state's other busy north/ south corridor (I-75) and 65% of the cars on it are out of state
