I've cruised the other threads and am posting this for update info.

I'm interviewing with an HVAC/R company on the 13th Jan.

Since there has been a housing boom/bust and we are officially in a recession I'm wondering how strong is the economy and rental market.

I've live in Lincoln Ne for the last 6 years. I'm comfortably renting a 700 sq ft, 2 bed, one car detached garage for $460. I have been told that the house could easily rent higher, as high as $600. I am expecting an annual income at the lowest of $20,000 yr.

I'm a retrainee ( 50+ yo) into this field due to the last job at a manufacturing plant being permanently closed. I'm interested in a quiet place with a garage. The garage is needed for a motorcycle.

House or apartments are considerations - away from the student population. I read in another post that would be zip 66506 (?).

The company I'm interviewing with is 66052 zip. If possible I'd like to live close enough to not have to drive every single day.

Thanks for any help.

Most of the rentals are in 66502, nicer ones tend to be in 66503, but your rent would be most than my house payment there. You can't get away from the students in this town. Lots of rentals everywhere.

You can't get away from the students in this town

LOL ! Let me rephrase that. IME certain house had reputations for being a 'party house'. Some blocks had more than one. Those type of neighborhoods I would expect closer to campus but due to even high schoolers having their own car, I thought that type of hangout might have spread throughout town.

Have you ever been to Lincoln NE. ? UNL has two campuses. I live next to the quiet campus, East campus.

Any way thanks for the reply.
