I recently drove through Manhattan after leaving town in the mid-1970's. As one would expect, there are many changes. Besides the mall at the East end of town, it seems like both sides of K-18 have been developed. When I lived in Manhattan, I remember only the airport and wheat fields between Manhattan and Ogden. Although I knew the town is growing, I was disappointed to see that area so developed.

I do not recall Fort Riley Boulevard. I recall Poyntz Avenue being the "main" street through town. Is Fort Riley Boulevard an addition or just expanded from the time I lived there over 30 years ago?

Also, I do not recall I-70 around Topeka being a toll road. Is this a recent development or is my memory at fault?

Well, I've lived here since 57 (Topeka) and I remember the toll roads being there since I was small. My parents took us to Emporia all the time and that was a toll. Not as much money as it is now I'm sure. And to KC, yep i think that was always toll too. I was going to concerts in Lawrence and KC by 1973 and there were tolls, I think...

But then.... I was going to concerts in the 70's so.... my memory could be at fault.....

Thank you, Houseslinger....it is probably my faulty memory and not yours.
