Maybe the state budget people should take a page out of The Price Is Right and make a lowball projection of one dollar.

$900 million budget shortfall expected to impact Oklahoma education | KFOR.com

While you obviously can't trust any politician...and certainly not Brownback to be honest. The major drop in oil prices is a real thing.

Lol....I see other states in a similar crunch and making cuts to things like education, libraries etc.

Frankly, I think that this shortfall is probably more related to general economics than the earlier shortfalls which were missed estimates after making major changes to the tax code. <shrug>

I read recently that Wyoming is "in recession" due to the oil market. (not good for the 50 or so people who live there lol!) ND is probably suffering too. CO is doing well. Certain areas are suffering from low oil prices, but we have the legal weed and other economic diversity to offset oil.

Well, at least Topeka has some savings... hopefully they will do what they proposed and fix the streets, water, and sewer around 6th and Topeka Bldv. The current city government is doing a pretty good job imo.

Per various sources I see on google Colorado is facing a 370mil budget deficit this year and is implementing numerous spending cuts.

Curse you Brownback!

Kansas job growth projections are consistently off, therefore future revenue projections will be off as well. No, Kansas is not as impacted as many other states by energy prices as few jobs in percentage terms are in that sector.

They shouldn't be talking about that 8 million. The legislature will figure out a way to sweep it.
